The National Coexistence Survey Launched in the UAE

The new survey has been rolled out to measure the level of tolerance and coexistence in UAE society.

Designed by the Minister of Tolerance Office, Federal Competitiveness and Statistics Authority and Dubai Statistics, the National Coexistence Survey will gauge society’s levels of coexistence and tolerance.

Announced in a video message by Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak, Minister of Tolerance, Sheikh Nahyan stated, “To achieve the highest level of tolerance and human kinship, it is necessary for us to collect and analyse data and statistics and undertake studies and research to measure how far we have travelled in this field,”.

First of its kind in the UAE, @FCSAUAE, in partnership with @UAETolerance and local statistics offices including @DubaiStatistics, announced the start of fieldwork for the National Coexistence Survey. The survey aims to measure society’s characteristics of tolerance and coexistence.

“We need to create tools to measure and compare information and to use the findings as a base for dialogue about our plans and strategies.”
He said the survey will help calculate and create a “national standard for tolerance and coexistence.”

It will evaluate eight main pillars, including coexistence in society, tolerance towards women, tolerance towards children, education and cultural tolerance, media tolerance, religious tolerance, institutional tolerance and coexistence in society with people with disabilities.
The results will help the ministry pinpoint potential areas lacking in tolerance and then design initiatives to remedy the situation.

Sheikh Nahyan said the survey would also help identify “the extent of society’s success in spreading tolerance and coexistence values” and he has invited all UAE residents to be part of the survey to ensure its success.
